Dearest Sarah,
When you were first born, so tiny you were
Innocent eyes and with a heart so pure
With the smallest heart beat, a journey began
Holding you, protecting you, loving again
Smiles and baby steps, skipping rope and chess
Finger painting and learning to clean up a mess
Playschool, kindergarten and now grade six
Friends from many places make a good mix
Like a horse learning to jump so many hurtles
Higher and higher and faster than a turtle
Taller, sensitive, smarter, beautiful and funny
A young lady whose smile is bright and sunny
Baby birds, baby horses and baby brothers
With your love you gave them all a mother
Touch as soft and gentle as a butterfly
Wonderment about life dances in your eyes
Struggles, tears, laughter and lots of successes
All completed between many recesses
Stepping forward to a new junior high
I hold my breath and try not to sigh
Heart swelling, smiling, I am so proud
As I watch you in the graduating crowd
New journey begins in the fall of oh seven
I look at you and smile looking up at heaven
Congratulations my Little Princess
(Who is not so little any more)!!!!
Love you with all my heart,
Mommy
